Last month, I received this cocoa paste straight from Costa Rica. While the flavor is truly exceptional, it was its rarity that caught my attention even more. I asked Yara for more information about this very special production run by her family. The entire process is carried out primarily by a group of women. Here are some of her explanations.

This (very) short film reminds us of the importance of love. The importance of ideas. The importance of creating. The importance of sharing. I will cherish these lessons and these moments in my heart. Until next time @grospiseri

ideas are so beautiful and they’re so abstract. And they do exist someplace. I don’t know if there’s a name for it. And I think they exist, like fish. And I believe that if you sit quietly, like you’re fishing (which I don’t obv), you will catch ideas. The real, you know, beautiful, big ones swim kinda deep down there so you have to be very quiet, and you know, wait for them to come along. to be continued

After my first Super 8 project, “Summer of Healing,” I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to create. It took me six months to decide what to do with my film stocks. Looking back at all those moments recently, the story wrote itself.

The way I see it, “Summer of Healing” was more about going through difficult times—experiencing deep sadness. This new little project, “Envie de vivre,” is more about understanding those feelings. Acceptance. Reasoning. Accepting life’s nuances. Loving someone without wanting that person in our lives anymore. I thought this phase would be shorter, but I think that in the end, it can last longer than the sadness itself.

That said, this process isn’t necessarily sad. In my case, it was accompanied, in particular, by some very joyful moments. Moments spent surrounded by family and friends. This project was filmed between August 2025 and January 2026. Between Brittany, Milan, Limburg, and Charleroi... the city where I was born. « Envie de vivre » is simply a collection of those moments. A reminder that healing takes time, but it’s worth it. Here’s a short version of it.

After my first Super 8 project, “Summer of Healing,” I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to create. It took me six months to decide what to do with my film stocks. Looking back at all those moments recently, the story wrote itself.

Just as cooking is the foundation of my life and fuels my creativity every day, I find it equally important to invest in other art forms.

Last summer, my obsession with Super 8 came to fruition with the purchase of a Canon 514XL. The grain fascinates me. The patience it demands. In a world where everything has to move fast, Super 8 forces us to take our time. This camera arrived during a complicated summer in my own life. What has always fascinated me is the human ability to transform pain into art. That’s when the idea for “Summer of Healing” came to me.

This video project navigates heartbreak, sadness, anger, hope, friendship, and healing over the course of a summer. Without having been explicitly written, it is a logical sequence of emotions felt, unexpected encounters, and new forms of love translated into a 12-minute poem.

I’m lucky enough to have it exhibited at the Baxton Gallery in Brussels as part of their “Still in Motion” exhibition. If you’re interested, feel free to stop by.

Grateful. For a stranger to move forward, they must understand their past.
